Hassler Dressage Young Dressage Horse Trainers Symposium

Hassler Dressage and Harmony Sporthorses are proud to join together in presenting the annual Young Dressage Horse Trainers Symposium. This event is offered to talented trainers of young dressage horses. Since its inception in 2005, The YDHTS has become the only event of its kind to gather developing talent nationwide for an event of this nature. In addition, each year the Symposium attracts returning alumni for continuing education and networking with others who are equally passionate about young horse training. Offering a boost of energy and inspiration, the Symposium has encouraged great camaraderie and friendships among trainers throughout North America. When at competitions, they often meet up with fellow Symposium participants who can be seen wearing their Young Dressage Horse Trainers Symposium caps as an indication of their pride and participation.

The Young Dressage Horse Trainers Symposium was created in order to meet several objectives. The most important goal was to locate and develop talented young horse trainers. Together these trainers could engage in open and constructive discussions free of media or auditors. It was recognized that this sort of open dialogue was immensely beneficial and yet there had previously been no outlet for professionals to gather in this format. In addition, it was hoped that the participants could further their own knowledge by learning from successful, international trainers such as Scott Hassler, Michael Klimke, Ingo Pape, and Dr. Ulf Möller. The power of networking has proven invaluable among the attendees.

Participants of the Young Dressage Horse Trainers Symposium have been very successful both nationally and internationally. Five riders have competed at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses - Susanne Hassler and Royal Prince (placing 4th in the Finals, the highest placed American finish in this event to date), Teresa Butta and Unitas, David Blake and Lord Albert, Jessica Jo Tate and Donnermuth, and Lars Holmberg with Mix Max. The list of participants from the YDHTS that have competed in the Markel USEF National Young Horse Championships are 20+ and still growing every year.

Hassler Dressage and Harmony Sporthorses are proud to continue the great success and tradition of the Young Dressage Horse Trainers Symposium into 2008. This year's YDHTS will be held over the weekend of November 7-9 at our beautiful Riveredge West Training Facility in Chesapeake City, Maryland, and will include the expertise of one of Germany's most successful horsemen: Ingo Pape. New applicants are asked to provide a completed application (pdf) and 10-minute training video on a horse ranging in age from 4-9 years of age; Alumni, your invitations have been mailed so look for them soon!

Hassler Dressage and Harmony Sporthorses once again look forward to bringing together talented and aspiring trainers for what YDHTS has come to do best: to Educate, Inspire and Connect promising trainers in an effort to bring the level of young dressage horse sport and training in North America to an exciting new level.
